How We Will and Won't Use AI

What good is the craftsman who doesn't craft?

At Lovably, we are saying no to generative artificial intelligence for the purposes of design and correspondence.

While impressive, we find the application of this technology under some circumstances to be dishonest. We all deserve to know who we're working and communicating with. We deserve authentic human connections, not the illusions of an algorithm.

Technological progress in any given direction is not inevitable. Though it often trends toward efficiency, we must also consider the human cost. We are responsible for shaping the relationship we have with machines and each other.

As new models emerge, we hope to adopt this technology with intention, for tasks such as proofreading letters, summarizing documents, and more effectively interacting with and refining human-made information. However, we do not intend to use it for the creation or communication of ideas.

Steve Jobs called the personal computer a "bicycle for the mind." When artificial intelligence is used as a replacement for the mind, we prefer the real thing.
