Like you, I was horrified to learn about the murder of George Floyd last week. Every instance of police violence—something which is all too common in America and is especially prevalent in Black communities—is nothing short of a tragedy.⠀

Out of a distaste for performative corporate posturing, I had long ago decided that Lovably should withhold from any such public displays, despite caring deeply about a wide range of issues, from human rights to animal welfare. This week, I have been questioning the validity of that choice.⠀

I'm embarrassed to admit that I have spent far too much of this past week determining how, if at all, my studio should respond to these recent events. In retrospect, I should have been singularly focused on helping others.⠀

While it is in our nature to be relatively reserved online, Black Lives Matter is all we're talking about offline. It's all we're thinking about. We have donated to the Equal Justice Initiative and plan to do so again very soon. We will walk alongside demonstrators in New York City this afternoon.⠀

We will continue to listen, read, and pay attention. We will always reflect upon our responsibility to society—beyond that which simply looks good on social media.

If there is anything else you think we could be doing to meaningfully support the cause, please feel free to email me directly at

With love,⠀
